Turquoise is said to be a perfect balance of male and female force and has a restful, soothing energy. Due to its balanced nature, it’s a good stone to have around during the development of psychic and spiritual skills as it reminds us to be more aware of our intuition without losing track of earthly reality. As a tool, it can be beneficial for astral travelers or meditators.

Regularly featured in mythology, the bear is largely a solitary animal. In terms of Native American belief, the bear is a symbol of ‘going within’ and the sweetness of life.

Zuni life, much like it was in the past, is still deeply religious and very different from that of other tribes. The Zuni gods are believed to reside in the lakes of Arizona and New Mexico. The chiefs and the shamans carry out ceremonies during religious festivals. Song and dance accompany masked performances by the chiefs while the shamans pray to the gods for favors ranging from fertile soil to abundant amounts of rain. The shamans play an important role in the community as they are looked upon for guidance as well as knowledge and healing. Zuni believe that the Bear is invaluable if you are faced with change and transition. It can be your ally when you are attempting to resolve conflict, forgive yourself or others for errors of the past, or when you are faced with new challenges in your spiritual path. The Bear guides introspection and self-reflection. Characteristics associated with bears include strength, courage, adaptability, healing and spiritual communion. The Zunis believe in six sacred directions, Above, North, East, South, West and Below. Bear is West.

The Zuni are Native American Pueblo peoples native to the Zuni River valley. Zuni traditions depict a past in which their ancestors emerged from underground and eventually settled at the tribe’s present location. Traditional Zuni religion has three main deities: the Earth Mother, Sun Father, and Moonlight-Giving Mother. Their religion is integrated into their daily lives and respects ancestors, nature, and animals.
