Description

Copal Resin 1oz. Copal is burned as an incense, and can be placed on a charcoal disc inside a heat resistant container. Some find that adding earth or sand can help shield the strong heat. White copal has a light and fruity scent. It is said to be cleansing for the spirit and can help with mental and spiritual work. Some say it is burned as an incense for “Purification & Protection”.

This resin was used for centuries in ceremonial incense blends. Use the resin on its own as incense, it blends well with other herbs and resins and is often used as a substitute for frankincense resin in blends. In Belize, copal is used as incense and can be found in most market places in the country; they are sold in one pound blocks of resin in its most natural form, with complimentary pieces of dried bark, leaves and drunken baymen, wrapped in leaf parcels. The Maya and Latino people of Toledo place pieces of copal on coals for spiritual cleansing. Medical uses include upper respiratory tract infections and also skin conditions ranging from scabies, fungal mycoses, dermatitis and impetigo. These medicinal trees are traditionally used for clearing the body of diseases and also to keep mosquitos away.

Small charcoal rounds can be used to burn resins, herbs, incense, and heavy aromatic gums for ceremony and scent. Raw oleoresins, are usually the sap formed on the surface of trees and plants, which we have collected and used as medicine, perfume, incense, adhesives and for many other applications, since time immemorial, across the globe, and in most every human culture.
